Baoxing is the last town of any size heading North before the Jiajinshan pass on the Ya'an -- Xiaojin Road. Baoxing's Deqing Gorge was where the first giant panda was discovered in county which is now the home of the Fengtongzhai Giant Panda Reserve. Marble (?) quarries and hydropower stations are also abundant.

Transport

A number of busses each day head from Ya'an to destinations via Baoxing. In the winter busses from Chengdu avoiding the Balangshan pass head via Baoxing and Jiajinshan.

Food

A typical small Sichuan town. Sichan restaurants, hotpot and barbeque are all readilly available. There are a few small supermarkets.

Accomodation

As might be expected on a main through route and the only town of any size for some distance, Baoxing has a range of accomodation options, from dirty truckstops to three star hotels.

Facilities

Baoxing is currently the last place for fuel before Xiaojin/Rilong 120km to the North. There is a small hospital, a number of small supermarkets and various car repair places.
