Litang is in the Southwest of the Ganzi region of West Sichuan. The majority of local people are ethnically Tibetan. It is claimed as the highest county in the world with an elevation of 4014m. Much of the county is pasture land. The average temperature is 3°C over the year with temperatures ranging from –30’C to 24’C. Yading and Mount Genie are in Litang region.
Transport
National routes 318 and 217 pass through the county. There are roads East to Chengdu, West to Tibet, South to Yunnan and North to Qinghai. Litang is 648km from Chengdu. From Chengdu's Xinnanmen Bus station first take a bus to Kangding (120 RMB, 6-7 hours) then change to a bus for Litang (81 RMB)

You can buy almost as wide a selection of goods as you can in Chengdu. The Li Tang People's Hospital is at 37 Tuan Jie Road. The Li Tang Tibetan Hospital is at 36 Tuan Jie road.
