Litang is in the Southwest of the Ganzi region of West Sichuan. The majority of local people are ethnically Tibetan. It is claimed as the highest county in the world with an elevation of 4014m. Much of the county is pasture land. The average temperature is 3°C over the year with temperatures ranging from –30’C to 24’C. Yading and Mount Genie are in Litang region.
Longmen Dong is a large conglomerate cave in Lushan County near Ya'an. Around 3km have been developed for tourism although there are 10km+ beyond which are undeveloped. Dragon Expeditions offers a variety of caving trips in the cave and with advance notice the showcave itself can also organise some introductory trips away from the tourist path.
Lushan is a pleasant old town on the Western edge of the Sichuan Basin to the North of Ya'an. A popular destination in March and April for it's yellow hillsides (covered in oil seed rape), it is also a destination for caving and rafting. Lushan has a reasonable industry in root carvings and stone work.
The Balang Shan road pass is the main and shortest route between Chengdu and the Siguniang mountains.
Baoxing is a town on the Jiajinshan road between Ya'an and Xiaojin.
